What does it take to Host a site?

There are really only three'parts' to hosting a website. Basically, you need a domain name, a hosting package, and content (The Code) that contains the information on your website.

Domain Names

Domain names are really just the name you give to your website, it's how people find your site. www.uptimewebsolutions.com is our domain name. This name is then assigned to an IP address, which is just a series of numbers, and that is how other computers know where to find your domain.

Hosting Package

A hosting package is basically just hard disk space on a server where you put your web pages on. You basically just rent this from the hosting company. The Code

Now that you have your domain name and your hosting package, all you need is the content for your pages. There are many options that you can take to make the content. In its simplest form though, all that is needed for a webpage is HTML. HTML is just your content in a specific format, in a way that your web browser undertands.
